TREND REPORT: PRE-FALL 2018
Now that summers are officially here, the fashion Designer community have launched their Pre-fall collections and it’s time to find out which trends are going to dominate the upcoming season and which trends would be biding us adieu. Pre-Fall Collection, pre means before, is the capsule fashion collection released in advance of Fall/Winter Collections. The collection bridges the gap between Summer and winter collections. Pre-Fall collections are generally unveiled in non-conventional methods, unlike traditional large-scale fashion shows, like by throwing a party, trunk show or small-scale shows, or most recently through social media.
The Pre-Fall Collections arrives in stores around spring as early adopters tend to shop before the season hits. And since designer pieces need time to manufacture, launching early provides that time frame to get the pieces ready when the season hits. The Pre-Fall 2018 Collection is displayed by every major fashion brand and as opposed to couture consists of practical and seasonal clothing that can be actually worn by women during the days.
Since Pre collection is becoming more than just transitional clothing and is being considered as pieces that can be invested in, here we have rounded up what are going to be the major trends for Fall/Winter 2018.
Bold and colourful stripes are one of the major trends of the season. Stripes have been a classic for the longest time, but ditch your nautical and sail on with the bold and graphic pattern. Think colour blocking and complementary schemes. From Carolina Herrera to Balmain, stripesre becoming bolder and prominent. Invest in a well-striped co-ord set to make the maximum of this trend upcoming season.

The most fun trend for Pre Fall 2018 is hands down the shimmer trend. From dresses and pants, to overcoats and jackets, lamé is occurring in almost every designer collection. From classic metallic golds and silver to bright and kitschy pink and yellow, shimmer in clothes is going to be the new white sneakers. If opting for evening look, go for Elie Saab and Prabal Gurung’s traditional approach and for a day look, look no further than Miu Miu and Ralph Lauren.

Plaids bring back the memory of Christmas pyjamas and not in a good way, but thanks to the creative geniuses at design houses, we now officially have escalated plaids to chic and stylish than something which was only considered festival appropriate. Checks and plaid have made a huge comeback Last season and if pre-fall collection is any indication, they are not going anywhere anytime soon. Think matching plaid sets, Plaid blazers, plaid accessories and plaid tights. Everything you can think of is available in the pattern in question. Michael Kors played with the pattern in feminine chic style whereas Tibi has a more laidback approach. Whatever your style, this season is. A perfect time to invest in a good plaid number.

Whether real or faux, though we only support faux, furs are going to be huge this season. Furs have been a classic winter staple for people living in extremely cold weather and this season plays with patterns and material. Along with plain fur overcoats, go for furs with geometric patterns, multi color patterns or even color blocking, which will be making a comeback early next season. We also have Kardashians to partly thank for keeping the fur trend alive, but hey, whatever style you favour, don’t forget to go faux.

SHADES OF GRAY
Think of the color gray and think of Christian Grey. However, these grays are guaranteed to be more popular and stylish. One color that will be favored this season, amongst all the bright pinks and violets is gray. The classic winter staple is back at it again in variety of silhouettes. Play with patterned gray and shoot two birds with one stone. Or better yet, wear a matching set in plaid gray and be a walking vogue subscription. Though being updated about other fashion events would also help. Grays in variety of spectrum will dominate the season, take cue from Ralph Laure, Sally Lapointe and Thom Browne.

Though animal prints are going to be a major trend this season, one such print which will standout is going to be Zebra. The black and white asymmetrical stripes can be seen occurring in major collection, specifically in outerwear. Along with zebra, the classic leopard, snakeskin and tiger prints can be seen ruling the streets. Expect few experimentations in terms of colors and patterns.
