Designers Joseph Laibin P. and Aswathy V. V.’s collection, Quintessential Allure has been inspired by Barbie Doll. The collection lays emphasis on exaggerated bow placements which was inspired from Holiday Barbie 2009. The trend of oversized bows was set to rule during Spring 2019. Bows were featured in hair, shoes and dresses during red carpet and fashion shows.

Barbie dolls have been a part of every woman’s childhood. Every doll is characterized by different roles and is known for its trendy clothes alongwith accessories. The doll was manufactured and launched in 1959 by American toy company, Mattel Inc. It has been a part of the doll market for 60 years. She is also considered as a cultural icon. Barbie is a symbol of beauty and elegance. The doll is usually manufactured with a slender frame however in 2016 it was introduced in four body types – original, tall, petite and curvy.

The characteristics of the Barbie Doll are pink and rose colours, trendy clothes and exaggerated bows. The designers have kept these elements in mind and created mid-thigh length dresses in rose gold colour with exaggerated bows. The designs are inclusive and can be worn by plus sized customers keeping in mind one of body types introduced by the manufacturers in 2016. Silver grade was used for inner portion of the bow to balance the pink colour. Fabric used for the garments is silk satin, as satin material is common for the garments worn by Barbie dolls. Silk satin is a valuable fabric as it looks and feels rich, and has a number of qualities; both, satin and silk support healthy skin and hair. Satin allows hair and skin do what it does best: produce protective moisture to keep itself healthy and strong.
