Designers Nisha S and Shemi Mol’s collection, Quaintrelle Virago was inspired by Razia Sultan, the first woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. In this era of gender indiscrimination, Razia Sultan is a befitting example, who stands apart as a symbol of woman prowess, strength and dignity. Her bravery and heroics are still enthralling and ignites generations. These characteristic features of Razia Sultan inspired the designers to create a line of Androgynous party wear that not just exemplifies her strengths, but also showcases exquisite beauty.

Androgyny applies to people who do not wish to be identified merely by their gender. They are known to overlook gender rule and wish to be rid of gender labels. Minute characteristic are added to the fabric through enhanced features like collars, pocket, pocket flaps, zippers and through embellishments of semi crystal stones and beads. The collection also featured loose fitted silhouettes like baggy trousers, boxed suits, shirts, flared and wrapped skirts etc. Fabrics used for the garments were brocade and raw silk with minimal embellishments.

Brocade is known for its remarkable strength and elasticity. It is a beautifully crafted fabric with a woven pattern which is purely decorative and independent of the structure of the cloth. Raw silk, on the other hand, is heat resistant and has excellent dyeing properties. Through the garments in the collection, the designers have highlighted power and strength through richness and colours of brocade and raw silk. The collection was intended to give an insight into our rich culture with added features of modern fashion which will definitely boost the confidence and outlook of the women.
