Industry Exposure Section for JEDIIIANS
JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi corporate centre, provided an exciting opportunity to the senior students of Fashion Design for a full day industry visit covering manufacturing units in Noida and Greater Noida. The first stop was Super Overseas Export House where Jediiians were explained factory’s production and quality control systems covering all departments- fabric/ trim storage, cutting, assembly line sewing, finishing, packing, washing and sampling. Students saw garment production of some of the best brands like Zara, Lucky and NEXT.
The next stop was a quaint factory in the bylanes of Hosiery complex where some fine schiffli fabrics were being produced. Students saw machines making all over embroidered fabrics which were then chemically processed resulting in beautiful, intricate lace fabrics! Last stop was a sprawling unit in Surajpur called Bir Horizons. It is a vertically integrated fabric unit having facilities for circular knitting, dyeing, processing and rotary printing. Students experienced and understood the method of manufacturing and processing of different types of fabrics like single jersey, pique, honeycomb, waffle, fleece, printed viscose, crinkled rayon etc. They also got exposure to maintaining colour continuity in dyeing and meeting buyer’s quality parameters.
Visiting these manufacturing hubs from where fashion originates, was a very enriching experience for the students who came back with a deeper understanding of the nitty-gritties of manufacturing and a clearer perception of the grand scale of production for exports.
