Fashion Department Students in Conversation with Zeven- an Indian Sportswear brand
JD Institute of Fashion Technology has been successfully striving towards creating a global consortium of creativity and imagination. Keeping in tune with the dynamism of the design industry, the aim of JD is to create a network between industry and designers from the institute. Recently, Fashion design department was explored to the new brand Zeven who acknowledged Jediiians regarding their sportswear and lifestyle products.
Zeven sports brand designs and produces all sports related apparel, shoes and accessories for both men and women. The brand is an official sponsor for RCB is India’s first multi-dimensional sportswear owned by Mahesh Bhoopathi. Since sport is an important aspect of one’s life, the choice of clothes and materials for it is necessary. The brand showcased their products and gave a brief on the materials used in it.
Sports or active wear fabrics are technical materials which help to keep the wearer comfortable during exercise. The type of fabric required depends upon the intensity of the exercise and the activity. As Jediiians aim to design for a purpose on the grounds of sustainability, ethical and innovation, it is important for them to have a hand on experience in the selection of material.
The discussion encapsulated topics regarding the manufacturing of a product, material attributes and its life cycle. Students learned about the production process and the details about the brand. Since sportswear is a booming industry right now. It is important for our students to have a keen eye on all the categories and its design elements. Being a Fashion Design Student, one needs to be updated regarding a brand image, its value and how a product is linked to both. The activity ended with great enthusiasm and interaction as students got to know the product information and also the personality of the brand. Talking to such brands and communicating with them helps our students to shape their designs better and connect with the people.
