Embroidery Workshops at JD Institute, Delhi – 21st December 2017
JD Institute once again raised the bar and provided two exclusive workshops for its Fashion Design course students. Students got a hands-on experience of learning the rare, traditional Kashmiri Velvet embroidery craft and they also got to learn the intricacies of hand-beading through Adda-work embroidery.
ADDA-embroidery workshop was conducted by Mohd Insaaf who has 15 years of experience in this field. The artisan not only gave knowledge of various types of materials used in hand-beading like- Sitara, moti, dabka, nafshi, chandla, kishti, zerkin, nalki, sequins etc but also showed the entire process of making khakhas, pinning, tracing, framing and then using the needle to do the embroidery work.
Kashmiri velvet embroidery workshop was conducted by renowned artist, Mr Balkishan. Students were given fabric, frames, threads and needles to do the embroidery themselves. The artist demonstrated the technique and helped the students to actually make their own samples.
Students also learnt the applications of these skills by looking at various samples that had been put on display.
Here at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, we make sure that the JEDIIIANS are exposed to various cultural and traditional form of workshops which gives them an idea of various components which can be used in their collections.
