Amalgam – Future Origin – JD Annual Design Awards 2017
Collection Name : Amalgam
Students Names : Natasha Jain
Amalgam is a collection that reflects on a major issue. The majority of the waste from the apparel industry comes from the excess that remains after the fabric is cut. These are discarded and end up in landfills, thereby polluting the environment. Reflecting on this major issue, the designer has created the collection by up-cycling the waste fabrics from factories. Inspired by the Cubism art movement, the fabric wastes have been cut into artistic shapes and sewn together using herringbone stitches. The collection comprises of A-line shift dresses in the combination of cool colours blue, green and blue green; and warm colours orange, yellow and red, with white used as a neutralizer. The collection is presented by Natasha Jain from B.Sc batch.
