The digital art works of Marcelo Monreals symbolize that most people keep their real selves hidden. His art collages comprising of fragmented images of people’s faces interspersed with floral arrangements is the inspiration for the collection “Aagami”. The silhouettes and patterns used in the collection provide interesting layering in form of jackets, resembling faces from the artworks, worn over black floral embroidered dresses. The designers have created a new sustainable fabric out of cigarette butts, one of the largest contributors of environmental pollution, for their collection. The cigarette butt fabric, used for the dresses, has been handwoven to revive the cottage industries. The jackets are made from old car seats, which end up in the junkyards. The collection brings together high end luxurious fashion and street styles for an experimental and chic look. The collection is presented by Anupama Shet, Radhika Rao & Meghana Maligi from the June Diploma Batch.
